The stopping force of your brakes is 10 times as powerful as the force that puts the car in motion. Brake pads, shoes, drums and rotors wear down even under normal driving conditions. Pay attention if your brake warning light is on and listen for squeaking, clunking, or grinding. Other warning signs of failing brakes:
- Your vehicle pulls to one side
- Your brakes pulse when you step on the brake pedal
- The distance required to stop your car is increasing
Inland Empire and Orange County residents rely on McTier Import Repair as their brake specialist. We use only very high quality brake pads and parts, in some cases only OEM parts that are far superior to any aftermarket brand. But there is much more to a thorough brake job than just replacing brake pads or shoes.
We start with a complete brake system inspection to assess the condition of brake lines, hoses, master cylinder, calipers and wheel cylinders. The rotors and drums are also examined for grooves or glazing. We remove the calipers and clean and lubricate all the sliders, pins, adjusters and contact points of the pads or shoes with special ultra high temperature grease just like the factory. We then measure the rotors or drums to make sure they are within specification for thickness and diameter. We use a dial indicator to check the run-out of the rotor or drum on our brake lathe. Most manufacturers suggest remachining the rotors and drums during the course of a brake job and we remachine the rotor or drum on our brake lathe until the surface is true and perfect with no run-out. After remachining, we back swirl and hone the rotor or drum surface to a fine finish. The rotor or drum is then cleaned and rinsed before it is reinstalled on the car.
We work on wheel and brake system components including:
- Anti-lock braking system
- Master cylinder
- Brake drums and brake rotors
- Calipers
- Brake hoses
- Power booster
- Wheel bearings
- Wheel cylinders
- Parking brake
